My Father was Matthew Ostrowski. He was an MP in the 11th Armored Division and was at the battle of the Bulge. I find myself looking at this website today on Feb 20, 2008. Tomorrow Feb. 21 will be the first anniversary of my Dear Dad's Death. He lived to be 95. When he was younger he didn't talk much about the War but as he got older he talked about it daily.
Dad was a great man. He was a Buffalo Policeman and retired as a Captain. I am now a Lieutenant in the Buffalo Police department. My Dad always said that it took his daughter to follow in his footsteps. My brothers chose other occupations.
I must say that my Father and also my Mother are surely members of the Greatest Generation. They grew up during the depression and were both very poor. They worked hard and were decent honorable people who taught their children to be the same and taught by example.
I know that my parents are only 2 of those people and that you genltemen are also of that generation. I would like to thank all of you for everything you have done to make this world that you have passed down to your children such a phenomenal place.
I have had the opportunity to travel to Eurpoe several times and each time I come home I realize just what a great country America is. I know that I have you men, many of whom were young boys when you fought for our counrty, to thank.
From the bottom of the heart of a daughter of a Soldier in the 11th Armored Division.......THANKYOU !
