My father, 2Lt. Peder H. Espeseth, served in Company D, 42nd Tank Batallion of the 11th Armored. Dad died in 1991. I recall several of his war stories, and especially remember him speaking fondly of his Captain, George "Bucko" Warriner, who was killed instantly in their first battle in Belgium. He also relayed to me the horrors he saw when they liberated Mauthausen, a Nazi death camp.

Mark-My father spoke often of your uncle. He was a great leader, very brave, and a hero. Dad was very fond of him.
