My oldest brother, Lawrence G. Mewhorter was a tank commander in the 42nd tank battalion, Company D. His was the lead tank attacked by the Germans on the night of March 7th, 1945. He died 5 days before my 6th birthday, and in the last letter he wrote on March 5th he was wishing my a happy birthday. I am now 83 years old but still have ALL of the many letters that Larry wrote home after entering the Army in 1943.
Is there any history center that would like such a collection of such letters? I also have a few photos.
