My dad was part of the 11th Armored Division in the Pacific with the 713th Flame Thrower Tank Batallion. I am trying to put together a flag box for him, and I really would like to be able to display his unit patch and unit insignia. Is there any place I could locate either or both of those items?
Thanks in advance for your help.

I was noticing from the list that attended the reunion recently that there was a George Baur who was in the 490th AFA. My father, Frank Hass, was in the 490th as well. I was wondering if there is any way that maybe Mr. Baur knoew of my father. I have a picture of my father with two men in southern France, and I do not know who they are. My father passed away Jan. 21, 2008. If I can get in contact with Mr. Baur, please let me know.

I am doing research on the Barkeley Station Hospital and would like to confirm the location of the Emergency entrance, X-ray department, Nurses' quarters, and Administrative entrance. Also was the large building just to the west of the hospital a movie theater?

My Step Great Grandfather, Grandpa Albert, aka Albert Foret, served in the 11th Armored Division, and though I did have the chance to meet him, I was very little and don't really remember him. I never really got the chance to talk to him about his time in the service and would love to find out more about him. If anyone can maybe offer me any stories or tidbits about him or of his travels during his time in the 11th, I would be very thankful! Thanks and God bless!

I am trying to find out if there is anyone still alive who can share any stories about my father pfc Gail Nelson Blakely-he was a member of the 575th and told very little to his wife Esther, ,or any of his seven children.
I have tried for years to find a site that has free access, I just am curious if someone could tell me anything??
Here is what we know:
he was a gunner repair man on a half track
he freed prisoners at a concentration camp
he was 18 when he entered the war
from all we hear he knew how to make danishes???
he was married for 34 years, and most of his battalion mates are from Ohio.
Thomas Camby from Ohio was one of his closest friends from the war.
he died in 1986 and he is my greatest hero because of his military service.
He had me when he was 47 years old and he would be 85 in September if he was still living.
the picture is of me, my sister, Lori Gayle, and my wife-whom he never met.
Any antedotal stories or battle stories from anyone would be greatly appreciated

HR 1818 is a bill To amend title 10, United States Code, to extend military commissary and exchange store privileges to veterans with a compensable service-connected disability and to their dependents. Currently it has been referred to the House Armed Services Committee, Subcommittee on Military Personnel. As I struggle with this loss, I have also come to realize that his passing signifies the end of an era, not only for me but for our country. Men of his generation are a different breed aqnd I know that if the generations of today had half the pride and work ethic he had, we may not be facing such hard time now. To all of you who are left from this era, I truly thank you and appreciate all you have sacrificed. I wish I had told my grandfather that.

I am currently doing some research on my grandfather, Elliott E. Lanier (Earl)Georgia, PFC, 778th Tank battallion, 11th Armored Division, Company D. I have just began my intensive research and would appreciate any help or assistance. My grandfather never felt like a hero, he always said that those men who died during the war were the real heroes, so I guess that is why he never felt like telling stories about his time in the war. I have a picture in which he wrote down some of the men's names. The men in the picture are as follows:

Sgt. Van De Hey ? (Wis)
Sgt. Nass (Ill)?

Sgt.Murray Lefkowitz - my father was part of the 11th Armored Division.
He said little about his experiences during the war.
I know he was a Yiddush/German speaking interviewer @ Matthausen, as well as some sort of military governor at Attersee Austria at the end of the war. I would greatly appreciate learning anything anyone can offer in the way of information about him and his role in the 11th Armored Div.
Thanks

I am an author of a book on a Spanish survivor of the Mauthausen death camp. In interviews, the survivor describes being assigned to a work detail outside Mauthausen when he met approaching U.S. forces, most likely the 26th Infantry and/or 11th Armored Divisions. He speaks of a deep friendship he developed with an Army official named Ramon Navarro (Novarro/Nobarro/Nabarro?), who assisted as an interpreter when the survivor was debriefed outside of the Mauthausen prior to the assault on the town and camp.
I would be very much interested in getting in touch with this soldier, if he is living. The only information I have about this officer is that he was among the U.S. forces to liberate Mauthausen, and he was Hispanic, fluent in Spanish. The survivor believed he was an officer, but this may be inaccurate.
If Ramon could be identified and located, I would be willing to reunite captive and liberator at my expense, possibly for your next reunion.
I would be extremely grateful for your help.

In reading the many messages I noticed that so many descendants were searching for info on a father or grandfather. To all of you of the 11th who remain, please record your story on tape, in a scrapbook,or some way for your descendants. I have transcribed & edited around 200 letters that I wrote home during WWII, letters that mother saved. You should do this for your children.

My uncle was part of the 11th Armored Division and was killed in action at the Battle of the Bulge. His Name was Wilbur A. Hochman PFC. I am doing my best to find information about him but it has been spotty. I think he was in the 55th armored infantry battalion and I think he died between 12/31/44 and 1/31/45. He was from Chicago and had three sisters and a brother. I would appreciate any information I can get. Thanks! God Bless Our Military!

I am searching for my grandfather. He could be a member of the 11th division in WWII. My grandmother was working in Austria, Mnzkirchen until the year 1945. My mother was born in February 1946. It is very important for me to find my grandfather, because he is a part of my family. Perhaps my grandfather is still living?
This man on the picture could be my grandfather. I only have this picture, nothing else. Please who can help me? Thank you.

My dad, E. F. (Tuny) Glenn served during WW II in the 3rd Army, 11th Armored Division, 21 st Armored Battalion. He was a 2nd Lt. He is very interested in anything about WW II and his Division and Battalion in particular.
He lost his "collar brass". They were rhomboid shaped with a tank on each one - no rifles or swords. Does anyone know of a source where I can purchase these?

I see from his scrapbook that he was in Austria, Russia, England, etc.during these years. I believe he was a staff sgt, but not sure. There are also pictures from bases in Madison, WI and Salt Lake City, UT.
He was very tall, 6'4" so I'm sure he would have been memorable. Hoping to find anyone who may have known him during that time. He did not talk much about the war until he became ill in 1978.

I went to several reunions with my parents over the years and am wondering if any of the troop still get together for their reunions. Dad passed away 5-20-1987. I was unable to obtain his military records because of the fire in 1973. They tell me that his records may have been destroyed. I would be interested in hearing from anyone who would have information about my father. We are trying to put together his military record and information. Thanks for any help or correspondence.

Hello,
My grandfather Leo Guerrettaz just past away this week. Before he passed he told me some stories from the war. He was a tank gunner, I have papers from where he was promoted to corporal in the 55 armored infantry battalion. I think he was promoted again but I am not sure. I have a picture of him and some others with their tank. I would like to know if he received any awards or medals during his service, he didn't like talking about the war much. I am trying to gather information on his military service to make a small memorial for him. I have been able to find a picture on here that was also in a book that he knew the men in the picture. If anyone has heard their fathers or grandfathers talk of my grandfather I would like to hear from you.

Although I apoligize for the delay I regret to anounce the passing of my father Joseph Fiteni (D 22nd Tank)in July of 2007. At a very early age dad made it clear the importance that his role in the 11th and in the battles that they faced had a profound effect on him.
He and mom always looked forward to reunions when they were able to travel! On behalf of the family thank you for keeping this part of the "greatest generation alive"
