Division Headquarters

Headquarters Company were the work horses of the Division as they had to closely work with Division Headquarters and staffs of CCA, CCB, CCR, Artillery Headquarters and Trains Headquarters Company. Their jobs were to keep the entire complicated division on the ready for any contingencies. They received orders from VIII or XII Corps Headquarters and made up the Orders of Battle for the situations on hand. Word was passed along to the Combat Command who took over from them. They then picked the needed troops from the dozens of units in or attached to the Division. These formidable Task Forces were the Spearheads of the VIII and XII Corp advances. They were the finest men and machines and always seemed to do the right things at the right time. After the Debacle of the Bulge the rest of the war was comparatively easy for the 11th.
